En évaluant les différentes textures, caractères, odeurs et couleurs distinguant les subtilités des arômes du bois d’agar, et en analysant chaque échantillons, Emma Agarwood a pu ainsi créer une « carte aromatique » du bois d’agar, permettant de dévoiler une histoire véritablement fascinante et inédite du bois d’agar.
Founded in 1999 in Taiwan, Emma Agarwood has launched a dedicated search – through the 16 main agarwood regions of the world – to explore and reveal the hidden truths behind the veil of myth and mystery surrounding agarwood.
By assessing the different textures, characters, smells and colors that distinguish the subtleties of agarwood aromas, and by analyzing each sample, Emma Agarwood was able to create an « aromatic map » of agarwood, revealing a truly fascinating and untold story of agarwood.

Le bois d’agar, ou chen-xiang, naît du cycle répété d’attaques et de réponses des arbres Aquilaria aux blessures superficielles, produisant un puissant mélange de phytoncides et de structures fongiques connu sous le nom de résine d’agar.
Au fil du temps, cette résine se solidifie et se transforme, sous l’influence de facteurs tels que le climat, le sol et le temps. Le processus d’alkylation au fil du temps crée des qualités uniques spécifiques à chaque lieu, offrant une gamme pratiquement illimitée de possibilités qualitatives. Le temps reste la variable essentielle dans la création du bois d’agar.
Agarwood, or chen-xiang, arises from the repeated cycle of attacks and responses of Aquilaria trees to superficial wounds, producing a powerful mixture of phytoncides and fungal structures known as agar resin.
Over time, this resin solidifies and transforms, influenced by factors such as climate, soil and weather. The process of alkylation over time creates unique qualities specific to each location, offering a virtually unlimited range of qualitative possibilities. Time remains the essential variable in the creation of agarwood.
